Rediscovered Bat Species Sparks Conservation Efforts
Nigerian biologist Iroro Tanshi rediscovered the short-tailed roundleaf bat, last seen in the 1970s, during her PhD research in 2016 at Afi sanctuary. Tanshi aims to protect the only confirmed roosting colony of this endangered species, which weighs as much as a teaspoon of salt.
