Police Officers Seek Protection in Winmar Death Inquest

Eleven police officers are seeking protection from self-incrimination as they prepare to give evidence in a two-week inquest into the death of Noongar man Jeffrey Winmar in custody. This request comes from the Victoria police chief commissioner at the start of the proceedings in Melbourne.
