PCOS Renamed to Improve Women's Health Care
Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is renamed polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome (PMOS) to improve care for women. Affected women, comprising 10% to 13% of those of reproductive age, often remain undiagnosed, partly due to the misleading name. Experts hope the change will enhance understanding and treatment outcomes.
