New Guidebook Highlights Overlooked Female Birdsong
A new guidebook highlights the often-overlooked world of female birdsong, challenging the perception that bird calls are predominantly male. In 2016, only 0.01% of sounds in the global Xeno-Canto library were identified as female, with another archive showing just 0.03% female representation, according to a 2018 study.
