Min Aung Hlaing appointed president after controversial elections

Min Aung Hlaing has been appointed president of Myanmar following widely condemned elections. The military general, who led a coup in 2021, is wanted by the International Criminal Court for crimes against humanity related to the Rohingya Muslim minority. His pro-military party dominated the recent parliamentary elections.
