Lucian Freud's Early Portrait Authenticated and Exhibited
An early portrait by Lucian Freud, titled Man in a Black Scarf, is exhibited for the first time after experts authenticate it as his work. Created in 1939 while he was a student in Suffolk, the painting features John Jameson, a friend of Freud's. Freud had previously denied authorship of the piece.
