Lafarge fined and CEO jailed for financing terror in Syria
Lafarge, a French cement maker, is fined over €1 million and its former CEO sentenced to six years in prison for paying nearly €5.6 million to terrorist groups, including Islamic State, to keep its Syrian plant operational from 2013 to 2014. This follows a 2022 US case where Lafarge pleaded guilty and paid a $778 million fine.
