EU Rules Airlines Must Compensate for Flight Cancellations

Airlines that cancel flights due to fuel shortages this summer must compensate passengers, according to EU transport commissioner Apostolos Tzitzikostas. He stated that rising jet fuel prices do not exempt airlines from their obligations under European law. Ryanair, however, plans to maintain its summer flight schedule after hedging fuel contracts before the Iran conflict.
