Couple Wins $3M Prize for Groundbreaking Gene Therapy for Blindness
Jean Bennett and Albert Maguire receive the $3 million Breakthrough Prize for their development of Luxturna, the first approved gene therapy for blindness. Their work has enabled patients, including one who saw their child's face for the first time, to regain vision after years of blindness. They share the prize with physician Katherine High for their 25-year project.
